Week Six.......
........on my course and its SLASHING and i love this technique, you have to layer different fabrics then cover them with organza or shiffon, sew vertical lines and with a craft knife cut inbetween the lines and then you have different fabric that shows through.
My favourite is the bottom one where i did the lines vertical and horizontal and what you do is cut away part of the squares and sew it down, my attention was to open and sew each square! but when i held it back i really liked it, which is unusal for me!!
Im not great at explaining things so i hope you get the gist of it!!
Please let me know what you think as dont want to take it to class and make a fool of myself as i dont normally like the stuff i do and this is the second piece now LOL

Thanks for looking and your comments, Jen x

ReplyDeleteYour stitched/slashed pieces look excellent to me Jen. I've only done a little of this, but if those were my pieces I'd mostly certainly not be afraid to take them to 'class'. I think they are super!!! Can't wait to see more. Thanks for your encouraging comments on my blog, I do appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteHello Jen, How unique and creative. I have never seen this technique before. I look forward to seeing more. Hugs Judy
ReplyDeleteHi Jen,
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog. The technique you described in this post is new to me. It looks very interesting. To answer your question on tatting, could you send me an e-mail at umintsuru@gmail.com.
Hi Jennie, I too like slashing, it's a great fun! I have made bag when I did mine. But I have not seen the squares before, well done for having a go, it will be interesting to see the whole thing:)
ReplyDeleteYou can be proud to take them to class. I love how you have done the squares.
ReplyDeleteHi Jen, I posted a picture of a bag on my blog using the "stitch and slash" technique for you to see, and also a link to your blog.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love this slashing technique, saw it once done as a jacket, with layers of cottons and silks. This came out gorgeous. As did the beautiful goodies that found their way to my doorstop. The mini apron note holder is just wonderful, how ever did you think of it. And I always need places to take notes, looks like the sewing machine was on overtime for that one.
ReplyDeleteThanks ever so much. xox Corrine
I have seen examples of this technique, and what you have done is great...very worthy of showing off at class. Dont be shy with your work it is all amazing.
