Hi Jen, this looks like such fun. I think the thread stitched together will be great. I've not used puff paint much, so it's good to see some examples. Have fun.

I’m also a wife of 33years and mum to two Son's and one Daughter, my youngest son who is 19 is physically disabled and has a condition called Arthrogryposis i also have three granddaughters who i adore their ages are 10 and 7 and they both love crafts....the baby is only 6 months!!
I have one dog called Naughty Lola!! And a tortoise called speedy......and three goldfish.
